Fred Kaps had that “certain something”, that indefinable quality that only great artists posess. Just one instance of this was found in his magical salt routine. He seemed to be continually amazed at the perpetual appearance of the saltcellars; and then he would despair at the endless stream of salt that flowed from his hands – it became almost a personal obesssion. Kaps provided psychological refinedment to his magic. He was a born actor.
